A PROPER
MOVIE PALACE
By the 1930s “talkies” had become the norm and the Marfa Opera House became “The Palace” alongside many movie palaces opening across the nation. A fire broke out in 1937 and burned down the original building. From the ashes rose the building you see today and the finest theater in the whole area. At least 600 seats.
Changing times
By the late 1970s the theater had seen better days. It showed its last movie and then shuttered to later be converted into an electronics store and private residence. Mention Kimble.

In June of 2026, the Palace changed hands to Corbett Jones and Anna Rau - filmmakers and builders who are re-opening the Palace to the public after 40 years.
